About Us

Lisa and Jayne founded LJ Travel in December 2006 operating from an office in Borough Green High Street. Within a couple of years their business had outgrown the premises therefore a move was needed. For the next 10 years they had the travel agency in Western Road where they were joined by both Karen and Tracy. In 2017 the business was moved once again back to the High Street where they continue to grow from strength to strength. 

With over 100 years combined experience, the team are still passionate about their industry and will always endeavour to provide the best possible experience when booking that well deserved holiday.

Why book with us

We are independent travel agents which allows us to look at tour operators that we feel will offer the best level of service. Nowadays we can all go online to book & arrange our travel, but people like having the comfort & re-assurance of booking with a specialist. There are of course other reasons why travel specialists, like ourselves still exist.

We love travel & we love our clients to enjoy the destinations that we offer. Like everywhere, there are certain times of year that are good & some are bad. We can look at this for you & advise on where to go & where not to.

We believe that our prices are comparable to those that you could find & book online, with the added benefit to our clients that we are fully bonded, so if anything goes wrong with your hotel or airline such as financial failure, you are fully protected against this.

You will of course have questions throughout the booking process and during the time between booking & departure. We are always available to answer any queries you may have.

We are small & we care. We like to build long term relationships with our clients so that we get to know them and their travel preferences and they get to know and trust us.

Price Comparison

Holiday prices can vary substantially between tour operators for a variety of reasons, but it is our belief we offer some of the best prices available to the destinations that we offer. If, however, you find this is not the case, please do let us know before you book elsewhere.

Security

With L J Travel you can rest assured that if the worst should happen your holiday or money paid for it is fully protected.

We act as agent on behalf of various Tour Operators, mainly who are ATOL protected with the Civil Aviation Authority. Not all holiday or travel services offered and sold by us will be protected by the ATOL Scheme. Please ask us to confirm what protection may apply to your booking. We are also bonded members of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) and as such must abide by a very strict code of conduct. We strongly recommend checking www.abta.com when choosing a company to book your travel arrangements and verify that they are listed.

Tour Operator Partners

You may have found the holiday of your dreams with another tour operator or travel agent already, but are looking to combine this with our personal level of service and expertise. If this is the case, simply call or email us & we will do our very best to find the same option for you. We work closely alongside all major tour operators as well as smaller specialist companies, allowing you to have their products, with our customer care.

My passion for travel started at the age of 11 with my first overseas adventure visiting my dad whilst he was working in Jordan.

From that moment I knew what I wanted to do when I left school!

My career in travel started in September 1984 and since then I have had so many opportunities to visit some amazing counties.

I don’t think I could single out one place but high on my favourites would probably have to be the Seychelles, Safari, San Francisco, Italy and the Greek Islands.

My wish list is a long one! At some point I would love to be able to visit Canada, New Zealand and much more of Europe!

Each and every day is different and after 38 years I still thoroughly enjoy the work I do!

I have always enjoyed travelling and exploring new places so looking for a career change, travel seemed the obvious choice for me.

Having come from a banking background it was a big change but so enjoyable. 

Helping people to realise their holiday/travel dreams is so rewarding. 

I have been very fortunate to have had many holidays from trips to Florida with all the family to skiing, touring trips of Europe, cruising, boating & villa holidays. I have also been to Iceland, Vietnam & Laos, Safari in Kenya and had lovely relaxing holidays in Mauritius, Greece & Turkey. 

There are still so many places I would like to visit with South Africa & Canada at the top of my wish list.

Now that I have grandchildren I have reduced my working hours in the office to enjoy them and do more travelling.  Work/ life balance is so important!

Karen Ribbands

My passion for travel started at a very young age and has continued to grow throughout my adult life.

I love my job because every day is different and I get to meet new and interesting people.

I joined the industry in 1986 and LJ Travel in 2013. I have been extremely lucky to have travelled extensively throughout my career and this has enabled me to pass on my knowledge to customers so that their holiday dreams become reality.

Tracy Sparshott

I wanted to work in a bank when I left school so was quite surprised when my first job was in a Travel Agency, first of all selling package holidays then moving on to business travel where I looked after trade delegations around the world.

After having a brief (19 years) time away from travel, I joined the team here and thoroughly enjoy looking after our clients old and new.

Two of my favourite places are Sicily and Canada especially around Vancouver and The Rockies area. I would like to visit more of the Greek Islands, explore more of Canada and the Far East and one day get to New Zealand.
